Whether or not you are going to be at home for Chinese New Year or off to your parents’ in neighbouring Malaysia, there is no better time than the present to give your home a thorough spring cleaning. Rid your home and life of last year’s bad energy and usher in the year of the Snake in all its prosperous glory. Here are things to note when cleaning your home.
1. Dusting. There is no denying that Singapore is a very dusty city. When dusting, ensure you move around the room in a circle and dust objects that are higher up before working your way down. Vacuum and mop once you have finished dusting.

2. Curtains. Curtains need to be cleaned at least once a year so if you do not intend to redecorate and buy new curtains, then ensure you clean your curtains to keep them looking new and in good shape. Opt to machine wash them cold then iron them while they are still a little damp or save some time by sending them for dry cleaning.
3. Service your AC. Provide ACs with chemical cleaning at least once a year. This will ensure that all dust and allergens are properly removed. It is especially important to get a technician to service your AC when it emits a bad smell and loud noise. Try not to let it come to that!
4. De-clutter. One of the main things to do when you perform your annual spring cleaning is to get rid of clutter. Throw out, recycle or donate unnecessary items such as old clothes that you know you will never be able to squeeze into again, old magazines, broken and unsightly trinkets and other random objects around the house that you can most definitely do without. Get rid of your hoarder tendencies and purge everything!
